about

Every free download comes with:
Liner Notes explaining the songs, themes, storyline, etc.
Illustrations of each song.
and the songs will probably be on there as well.

I made this record over 10 months because I felt like I needed to, I didn't see much choice in it. It was something I had to do to feel fulfilled as a human.

Forest House, musically, is my attempt to create a sense of beauty inside the space of an eerie environment. I really wanted to take you to the places I speak of firsthand, whether through the soundscape, the illustrations, or the instrumentation. Immersion was crucial, which is why many of the songs flow into the next. But I also needed to tell this story, and because it is a story of loss, I needed to write this record in order to have a space where the story could exist inside of.

Track Name: Gated Community
The front yard is golden
Truth's clandestine in the back stairs
And up in the attic is the source of my grey hair
I've never gone and mapped outside of myself
The lines I chart could differ from everyone else

Maybe I'll never get into the city
Even heaven's a gated community
Could it ever really be that pretty
Even heaven's a gated community

Welded shut what sprouted up in my mind
Forever trapped in the tomb connected to my spine
And what's not important is has, had, will have
When I can hardly remember the best days that I've had

Maybe I'll never get into the city
Even heaven's a gated community
Could it ever really be that pretty
Even heaven's a gated community
Track Name: Forest House Part 1
There is a house in the forest I took you in late spring
Built from scattered wood and rusty nails and sparse furnishing
Your iris matched the sea of grass
Watching the wind blow tangles through our past

Shadows paint the forest floor
It's scattered wood it's a house no more
Torn apart by my own hands
Or that's what you said
But not how I remember it

Caught in the rafters I forbade a forfeit
I asked and plead and I begged and ordered it
There's more than bread I couldn't bring to the table
Well spoken and punctual, I'm incapable

Shadows paint the forest floor
It's scattered wood it's a house no more
Torn apart by my own hands
Or that's what you said
But not how I remember it
Because you forgot about the house
And about me
Now it's buried and covered in leaves.
Track Name: Part 2
Settle down
Settle down the house
Snow is locking in the doors and I can't get out
Unplug
Unplug that phone
Because the last voice I need to hear is my own

You are the vehicle, for my discoveries
It's not about the places we make for
Its the new ways in which I see
And all of my careful planning went straight to the landfill
It's piles and stacks of deterioration from first to last

Settle down
Settle down the house
Why would I ever leave here
What would I amount
Except an awful fixation on the ticking count
Dampened by finite time left to go around

You are the vehicle, for my discoveries
It's not about the places we make for
Its the new ways in which I see
And all of my careful planning went straight to the landfill
It's piles and stacks of deterioration from first to last
Track Name: Part 3
And I look better from farther away
Rattling and lock picking unsuccessfully
I tried to fit my tiny frame through the gate
But the pearl inlays were meant to keep me away

You surface in the pockets of everyday
Couldn't keep well enough away

And when our family tree does fall, I won't be around
But I never meant to break branches or cut any down
But it is turning brown and dying on its own
And when spring comes I don't think leaves will be regrown

You surface in the pockets of everyday
Couldn't keep well enough away

Port town in the waves crest
Port town cabin in the northwest
Opens its gates to me
My earthly body

Pour some coffee and stare out for a cup
Lay in bed until the day has woken up
But all my best dreams have ended so abrupt
Most nights sleep can't come fast enough
Track Name: Aging Lines
Your aging lines
Tangible time
Whispering at the top of your lungs
Your quiet hum
Sounds of nights when we'd walk
The starry slopes
With hidden hopes
Track Name: Mineola
Recalling past lives
Held together by a loose string holding all of us
And what's more
I could never know for sure
The other side of the door
Harbors an empty feeling racing through all of us
A moral road
Ends with a reward
And I have seen the best that I'll get
Looking down on other insects
And just as soon I could be them
Uncertain future
Makes uneasy knots in me
I spun a web to catch all of my dreams
But I'm no good at crafts it seems
